China to test new vaccine by end of 2020

News

China plans to test a new vaccine developed by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca by the end of 2020. This was stated to the press by the deputy president of the company, who also specified that they plan to release the vaccine for free sale on the local market in 2021, after submitting an application to the Chinese authorities.

If we talk about the current situation, then AstraZeneca has all the necessary approvals to allow them to conduct their planned clinical trials. Permits have been obtained from the authorities of Japan, the US, South Africa, the UK and Brazil. This allows full-scale trials of a new vaccine that, if effective, will help stop the spread of the coronavirus in China and may be exported to the global market if other pharmaceutical companies fail to achieve positive results.

Recall that on October 20, the Chinese authorities announced the testing of thirteen vaccines at once, four of which were already in the third stage of the study. This speaks to China's readiness to soon demonstrate a really working vaccine that could make a difference in solving the problem of a global pandemic.
